Cricklade Garden Club News
The 21st AGM of Cricklade Garden Club was held on 9 November. After reports by the President, the Treasurer and the Programme Secretary, the election of the 2011-12 Committee took place. Anita Barratt, the President, stepped down and her place was taken by Gwydwr Leitch. The Secretary of the Club, Julie Norman, has also resigned and consequently we need someone to take her place. We’d be grateful to hear of anyone who would be interested in taking this on. If you are interested please let Gwydwr Leitch know (01285 862552).
After the AGM Andrew Tolman gave an interesting and entertaining talk, entitled ‘Off the beaten track’. We learnt about some wonderful gardens from all over England and some from Scotland that many of us were not familiar with; some fine photographs illustrated the talk. Our Christmas Dinner took place on 6 December at Cricklade House and was a very enjoyable occasion. The final meeting of the year was on 13 December when Jenny Tidmarsh demonstrated some Christmas arrangements. These were later raffled to members to everyone’s delight. The first meeting of the New Year was held on 10 January when Bob Jones told how Cricklade Bloomers started (with plenty of photographs) and how they won the coveted Champion of Champions award last September.
In February our meeting takes place on Tuesday 14th at 8pm at Cricklade Town Hall Annexe when we shall have a talk by Graham Light on ‘Getting the most out of your camera in garden and plant photography'. The competition will be a pot of small flowering bulbs. There will be refreshments and a raffle. Please join us.
