Volunteers News Letter June and July 2007

News and Update

Thank you to everyone who has planted, watered, dug holes, moved compost, mulched beds, picked litter, removed graffiti and all the other jobs that are too many to mention here. We have done all we can to put Cricklade in a good position for an award in the South West and National in Bloom competitions. Our challenge now will be to keep all the flower displays looking good right up to mid August. Throughout July and Early August we need volunteers to keep feeding, watering, weeding and dead heading the displays. As soon as I know the date for the Nationals It will be on the web site so keep checking.

Banners; we have now taken delivery of three beautiful lamp post banners designed by Christina Barratt, featuring a single Fritillary flower. They are to be hung at the three entrances to the Town to let everyone know that Cricklade is a Britain in Bloom National Finalist. Christina has also designed two banners for the Wild West Town Festival to hang from the lamp posts in the High St on the 17th June.

Compost day 23rd June 9.00am at the Leisure Centre car park – can you spare an hour to help bag up compost?

Post Cards are selling really well. They feature Cricklade in Bloom and have been produced by John Barratt on sale in most of Cricklade retailers, 35p each. All profits will go to Cricklade Bloomers to buy autumn plants for the Town.

Keeping the grass verges trimmed; If you would like to help out with mowing using the new grass manager; please get in touch; it takes two people to lift in and out of the trailer. Mowing the big roundabout and the entrance verges takes around three hours, let Anita know if you have some spare time.

New planters; these should be arriving in the next two weeks; plants and compost arriving around 18th May.

There will be lots of nice easy planting jobs during the later half of May and beginning of June; but we also need people who can dig holes for the basket tree support anchors and for the new entrance banner poles. If you can help call Anita 01793 751403.
